Intel Microprocessor Quick Reference
Though many processors are listed here, the realities of market dynamics need to be considered. The equipment to manufacture each variety exists; however the facts are that Intel will and the OEMs will have everything to do with which CPUs actually arrive in any quantity.

Intel will decide which versions to actually ramp production for and to market heavily to OEMs, which will lead to competitive pricing for those versions. OEMs will decide which versions ro purchase which also will affect pricing.

Lastly, yields affect the pricing and availability of each model and version. The number of trasistors and the name provide clues to which chips use the same die (also consider the “Mfg. Process”) and exist in the same family. For many years Intel has manufactured CPUs in bulk and the testing procedures at the end of the process determine labeling and selling of various chips at a given speed.

Note: A particular chip can be labelled or sold as a chip of lesser quality, but not vice versa. Hence one could puchase a chip or machine that performs better than advertised, but not worse. Yields of a faster chip may make it attractive to sell it as a slower chip. Also, the aftermarket vendors affect these markets by their purchases.

All in all, market forces and manufacturing realities do much to determine the production.
